Arsenal have finally ended their 22-year wait for Premier League glory. After three painful seasons finishing as runners-up, Mikel Arteta’s team managed to surpass Manchester City and lift the league trophy.

The campaign was marked by intense drama, tactical intelligence, and remarkable consistency under pressure.

Their rise from almost-winners to champions was driven by a £250 million investment in the summer of 2025.

Among the key arrivals were Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres, signed for £64 million, along with Martin Zubimendi, Piero Hincapié, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze. These signings added depth and quality, proving essential over the long season.

The team’s title push featured several dramatic late moments. In September, Gabriel Martinelli scored a 93rd-minute equaliser against Manchester City to salvage a point.

Only a week later, Gabriel produced another decisive moment, heading in a 96th-minute winner at Newcastle United to maintain momentum.

By November, Eberechi Eze made a major impact, scoring a hat-trick in a dominant victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby, sending Arsenal six points clear at the top.

Manchester City, meanwhile, experienced a surprising slump at the start of 2026, going winless in their first four matches of the year, which allowed Arsenal to open up a seven-point lead.

The final stretch of the season was extremely tense as City attempted a comeback. However, a costly mistake by Marc Guéhi, whose backpass error contributed to a 3-3 draw with Everton, proved damaging to their title hopes.

In the penultimate matches, Arsenal’s David Raya made a crucial save against West Ham, and although West Ham later scored, VAR ruled the goal out for a foul on Raya. Arsenal survived the scare and edged closer to clinching the Premier League title.
