On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Manchester City rescued a dramatic 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium thanks to a late equaliser from Erling Haaland.

Manchester City started the match brightly, dominating possession and putting Bournemouth under early pressure. Jeremy Doku was heavily involved in attacking situations, while Antoine Semenyo also looked dangerous going forward. Semenyo thought he had opened the scoring early in the game, but his effort was ruled out for offside after a quick review.

Bournemouth gradually settled into the contest and defended with discipline and organisation. Their improvement paid off in the 39th minute when Eli Junior Kroupi finished brilliantly into the top corner after receiving a well-timed pass, giving the home side the lead before halftime.

City returned for the second half with greater intensity as Pep Guardiola introduced Phil Foden, Savinho, and Rayan Cherki in an attempt to spark a comeback. The changes increased the visitors’ attacking pressure, but Bournemouth remained resilient defensively. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic produced several important saves, while Evanilson and David Brooks continued to threaten on counterattacks.

The game produced dramatic scenes in stoppage time. Rodri struck the post with a powerful effort before City regained possession and created another dangerous opportunity. Although Omar Marmoush failed to convert initially, Haaland reacted quickest inside the penalty area and guided the rebound into the net off the woodwork to equalise for City.

Tensions rose in the closing moments as Rodri, Justin Kluivert, and Adrien Truffert were all booked following heated exchanges between both teams. Bournemouth nearly restored their lead late on when David Brooks hit the post, but Manchester City held on to secure a hard-fought draw.
