Former Nigerian international striker, Michael Eneramo, has reportedly passed away after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.
According to Vanguard, the tragic incident occurred at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna.
Eneramo, aged 40, was said to have been participating in the game and came on as a substitute in the second half.
Shortly after entering play, he suddenly collapsed without any physical contact from other players.
Eyewitnesses revealed that efforts were immediately made to revive him on the pitch before he was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, all attempts to save his life proved unsuccessful, and he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Eneramo, who had already retired from professional football, enjoyed a notable career that spanned several clubs both in Nigeria and abroad.
During his playing days, he featured for Turkish side Besiktas, Tunisian giants Esperance, and Nigerian club Lobi Stars, among others.
He was also a member of the Super Eagles, representing Nigeria at the international level.
After hanging up his boots, Eneramo remained actively involved in football development.
He was reportedly running a football academy, where he contributed to nurturing young talents and supporting grassroots football.
Following the news of his sudden death, tributes began pouring in from fans, colleagues, and football authorities.
The official Super Eagles social media handle also paid tribute, sharing his photo alongside a message wishing him eternal rest.
Eneramo’s unexpected passing has left the Nigerian football community in shock, with many mourning the loss of a player remembered for his contributions both on and off the pitch.
