Barcelona crowned La Liga champions after defeating Real Madrid in El Clásico

Spanish giants, Barcelona, clinched their 29th LaLiga title on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over bitter rivals Real Madrid to open a 14-point lead at the top of the table with three games remaining.
Real needed a win at Camp Nou to delay the league win, but fell behind in the ninth minute when Marcus Rashford scored a stunning free-kick into the top corner.
In the 18th minute, Ferran Torres doubled the lead, finishing a slick move involving Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo with a fierce strike from inside the box.
Hansi Flick’s side moved to 91 points, with Real on 77 and Villarreal third on 69; Barcelona secured back-to-back league titles, capping a dominant campaign in which they have lost only four league matches.
“This title is more special for winning it at home against Madrid, now we have to enjoy it with the fans,” Barca midfielder Frenkie de Jong told Movistar. “We have been the best team in Spain – of course we [also] want to win the Champions League, that’s the objective. Next year we will have another opportunity.”
The 61-year-old German coach was in the dugout hours after the Catalan giants announced his father had died.
“It has been a tough day. It started in the morning and I really, I’ll never forget this day,” Flick told fans on the pitch. “I’m really proud about that we have such a team. I want to say thank you to everyone, thank you for everything, thanks for really fighting. I really appreciate that a lot.”
