Nollywood actor and producer, Frederick Leonard has taken legal action against social media commentator Stanley Chibueze Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley On Top, over what he described as years of defamatory and libellous statements made against him.
In a petition dated January 26, 2026, and addressed to the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Leonard’s legal representatives accused Stanley On Top of persistently making unfounded allegations that have damaged the actor’s reputation and affected his earnings.
According to the petition, the statements have allegedly gone on for over two years and were made without provocation. The lawyers argued that while freedom of expression is protected under the Nigerian Constitution, it does not extend to damaging another person’s reputation through libel or slander.
They cited relevant sections of the Criminal Code and the 1999 Constitution, stressing that Leonard’s right to protection of his reputation had been violated.
Leonard is asking the Nigerian Police Force to investigate the matter, invite Stanley On Top for questioning, and compel him to issue a written apology as well as retract and take down all alleged defamatory publications within seven days. The petition states that failure to comply would result in further legal action.
Sharing the document on Instagram, Frederick Leonard issued a strong warning, stating that anyone who makes allegations must be prepared to prove them with evidence, adding that “the law will take its course.”
