The Kano Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned one Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi before Justice Musa Karaye of the Kano State High Court sitting in Kano on a one-count charge bordering on criminal misappropriation to the tune of N34,875,000.00 (Thirty-Four Million, Eight Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Naira).

The defendant was arraigned on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

The charge reads: “That you Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi ‘M’ sometime between September and October, 2024 in Kano, within the jurisdiction of this honorable Court dishonestly misappropriated the aggregate sum of N34,875,000.00 (Thirty Four Million, Eight Hundred and Seventy Five Thousand naira) property of one Fahad Balarabe Adaji, which property was transferred on your instruction into the account of one Muazu Abdullahi domiciled with First Bank for the purchase of IRS Spaghetti from BUA but you knowingly converted same to your personal use and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Law, Laws of Kano State of Nigeria and Punishable under Section 309 of the same Law.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Mustapha Maiwada, prayed the court for a trial date and an order to remand the defendant in a Correctional facility.

Justice Karaye subsequently ordered the remand of the defendant to a Correctional facility and adjourned the matter to November 2, 2026, for hearing.
