The Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, has revealed that the police force is working towards ending impunity in Nigeria, one of which is riding without number plates or covering number plates while driving a vehicle.
While addressing guests in his office recently, the police boss said many people have used the habit of covering of their number plates while driving to commit crimes in Nigeria. He also mentioned that some people have turned covering their number plates into a status symbol. He said this will no longer be tolerated.
He mentioned that he has given a matching order to his officers to arrest anyone, irrespective of their status in society, who drives a vehicle without a plate number or with their plate number covered.
