The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has directed an immediate halt to the transfer of cases from Lagos and Ogun State commands to the zonal headquarters.

The directive was issued during his maiden strategic security meeting with Commissioners of Police from both states, as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and accountability.

Jimoh emphasized that all investigations must now be handled within respective state commands, ensuring faster resolution and improved oversight.

“Where there are petitions of lapses or grievances, I will still refer them to the commands for the CPs to address and report back to me,” he said.

He added that only cases requiring specialized expertise would receive support from the zonal headquarters.

The AIG noted that security in both Lagos State and Ogun State remains stable, with notable progress recorded in crime prevention.

“There have been significant successes in crime prevention and control,” he said.

Jimoh ordered both commands to scale up efforts against violent crimes through proactive policing strategies.

“People-centred policing strategies are already yielding results,” he noted.

The police chief issued a stern warning to officers, stressing the importance of professionalism and discipline.

“Any officer found violating operational guidelines or engaging in unprofessional conduct will face disciplinary action,” Jimoh warned.

Jimoh praised Babajide Sanwo-Olu for supporting the police with logistics, patrol vehicles, and training through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.

He also commended the Ogun State Government for providing patrol vehicles and equipment to enhance security operations.

“These contributions have strengthened policing operations and improved safety,” he said.

Jimoh assured residents of continued efforts to maintain peace and security across both states.

“We will sustain all necessary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property,” he concluded.
