The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has decorated Jimoh Moshood Olorundare as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).
The decoration ceremony took place on Friday, March 27, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, IGP Disu congratulated the newly promoted AIG, describing the elevation as well-deserved. He urged him to deploy his wealth of experience and professionalism in the discharge of his new responsibilities.
“Your promotion reflects the confidence of the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force in your capacity to deliver,” the IGP said, urging the senior officer to sustain his commitment to service, integrity, and strategic policing.

Jimoh’s elevation follows a widely acknowledged period of operational consolidation in Lagos State Policing, where he played a central role in strengthening crime prevention and control architecture in one of Africa’s most complex urban security environments.
Under his leadership, the command intensified intelligence-led operations against armed robbery syndicates, cult groups, and traffic corridor criminals, leading to multiple arrests and the disruption of organised criminal cells across high-risk divisions.
He also supervised coordinated raids on black spots and criminal hideouts, reinforcing police visibility and restoring public confidence in several communities previously troubled by violent crimes.

In addition, the command recorded improvements in rapid-response policing through strengthened patrol deployments, enhanced coordination among tactical units like the Eko Strike Force he established, and closer collaboration with sister security agencies.
It would be recalled that on March 12, 2026, the Police Service Commission approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police. The promotions followed the officers’ successful performance in written examinations and oral interviews conducted at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
Until his promotion, AIG Moshood served as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State and is currently posted as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Lagos.
