The Osun State Government has raised the alarm over what it describes as a targeted assassination attempt on Adebayo Adeleke, the popular singer known as B-Red and son of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the government disclosed that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, April 29, in the Oke-Fia area of Osogbo, near the Government House.
According to the Commissioner, the attack was allegedly orchestrated by hoodlums led by an individual identified as Asiri Eniba.
Recounting the ordeal, B-Red stated that the confrontation began while he was returning from Alekuwodo Market. He reported being intercepted by a group of commercial motorcyclists wearing “AMBO” branded caps, who attempted to surround and pin down his vehicle at the Oke-Fia Bridge traffic intersection.
“As I went out to buy some stuff around Alekuwodo market, I just saw some Okada riders with AMBO caps trying to surround my vehicle at a traffic point under Okefia Bridge. As we tried to move out, we saw a white Toyota Venza coming towards us with a shout of “it is him; It is him.”
According to the account, the situation escalated when a white Toyota Venza pulled alongside his vehicle. One of the occupants reportedly shouted, “It is him, it is him,” sparking a high-speed pursuit.
B-Red explained that as he attempted to flee, the Venza and a group of motorcycles gave chase, repeatedly maneuvering to block his path and force him to a stop.
